I can’t tell you how many times I have felt like I was not enough or simply too much. What an interesting juxtaposition of two opposing feelings. Whether it was standards and expectations of the world or my own internal ones, there are countless times were one of those sentiments has crept in and whispered lies to my heart and mind.
Two summers ago it hit particularly hard and I was so grateful for the book Wild & Free: A Hope Filled Anthem for the Woman Who Feels She is Both Too Much and Never Enoughy by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan. The anthem they shared resonated in my heart and mind and I found myself clinging to Biblical truths about how God made me.
I firmly believe that God designed me to be the unique leader and strong personality that I am. That being said, I’ve also learned deep lessons about stillness and quietness, humility, listening, and the power of following the Holy Spirit’s leading. While I don’t believe that life is all about a balance, I have come to the conclusion that it may balance out ultimately. I also believe we really live in seasons that don’t have balance; but that there is a balance found between sharing and listening, teaching and learning, leading and following, and facilitating and waiting. I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned in these areas and if you have ever felt similarly I highly recommend this devotional by Connolly and Morgan.
I found the devotionals to be relevant, interesting, inspirational, and grounded in Scripture. I love this team of writers and how they use their Dynamic to represent different sides to the story and different experiences.
I have added this to a Bible reading plan and look forward to diving into it each morning. Many of the individual devotionals have resonated with me right where I am, and others have felt on point with what the people around me are experiencing. I have found it has helped me be more aware, grow personally, and have something to share with those around me.
I would recommend this book for yourself, but also suggested it as a gift for others. And while you’re at it jump on over to social media and follow these ladies because as you get to know them their hearts shine through their writing.
