Creating White Space // Day 25

As we are coming to the end of this series I am impressed with how much unexpected change has come from this time. How different it has been then I expected.

I am struck with the power of conversation. I recently mentioned being intentional about the inputs in my life, the life of our family. And for me stimulating conversation is a valuable and worthwhile input. I don’t have to agree, I don’t have to be the one talking, I need to listen, I need to be challenged, I need stimulating conversation.

I think of the most valuable things my parents gave me was the gift of communication. They are open, honest, transparent, and authentic with us. They parented us at the age we were and kept the end goal, of independence, at the forefront of their minds. This is why we have deep friendships now and why I can share and seek advice from them. They provide so much stimulating conversation and also a place for many of those I love and treasure to engage in this same kind of communication.

The conversations I have with them leave me feeling refreshed and challenged.

There are friends who provide this same kind of environment. They listen, ask questions, give advice, share and seek advice. They process with me and allow me to learn, grow and change.

This is genuine white space.
