Creating White Space – Wrap up

Well this wrap up is a bit overdue.
I did stray from posting every day at the end. But I can tell you it was due to creating white space in other areas of my life so I think it was worth it.

My goals were to:

1. Watch less television
2. Clear IT out and Give things away
3. Walk more.
4. Getting up a bit earlier
5.  Clearing the Calendar
6. Get outside
7. Read more (added later)

Some things I have noticed…
1. I am drawn less to turning on the television.
2. Prioritizing the big important tasks is easier. And feels rewarding.
3. My thinking on spending has changed. This process began before the 31 day challenge but the challenge definitely affirmed what I was learning, practicing, and taking to heart.
4. I am getting so much joy out of re-gifting, giving away what I don’t use, and not spending.
5. Time is the most precious commodity.
6. I am reading more.
7. We are outside as much as we can be.
8. I still long for even more simplicity.
9. I am more at peace.
10. White space is way more mental, emotional, and spiritual, and a lot less physical. It is time, opportunity, physical space, mental space, and intentionality. Therefore some of the goals I made the least progress toward were less important then I thought.

Overall this series has been primarily for ME. I’m not sure it was so much for YOU my reader. But I hope you consider taking on a similar challenge and setting some goals.

I didn’t walk as much as I’d like, and I do think this is something I really want to focus on as the pregnancy gets further along, my alone time is harder to come by, and because I feel like a walk is a time for me to think and refocus.

I also want to continue to evaluate and re evaluate what is in my home and continue to get rid of things we don’t need or use that others can be blessed by. But honestly this is becoming more of a lifestyle as I participate in my Buy Nothing Community.

Seek out space in your life. Find ways to create space, slow down, enjoy more.

We live in an individualistic society, and one that is driven by commerce. But we don’t have to live our lives that way.

It feels so good to take control of my money, life, mind, time, and how I give to others.
It is the prioritizing and intentionality that really gets me. How did I ever think I was doing that before? I encourage you to start thinking, I mean really thinking about how you wish to spend your life.

Okay… stepping off this new soap box. It is a personal conviction. I’m just so excited and relieved at how I see my life changing that I want to encourage you too.

I’ll post a resource list that came from this series in a few days, along with a few more tips. Just wanted you to know that I am entering December feeling more ready then I have ever before and that the Creating White Space challenge is officially over, but it is not done. It is a lifestyle that I am choosing to adopt – whole heartedly.

Philippians 4: 6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
