life’s simplest pleasures, life’s greatest joys… PIZZA

part of the title of this blog is…

life’s simplest pleasures, life’s greatest joys…

for me cooking at home is a luxury. we often eat our ‘go to’ meals, things that are fast or not actually ‘cooked,’ or seperately.

tonight i made a great homemade pizza dough and topped it with our favorite things. although we will eat it seperately it was truly delicious when i ate it and again when he ate it.

pre-cooked

here is the recipe.
Ingredients

1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast (for those of you using bulk yeast, like me that is 1.5 teaspoons)

1 teaspoon white sugar

1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)

2 1/2 cups bread flour

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

2.Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.

3.Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker’s peel dusted with cornmeal. Spread with desired toppings and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.

i topped with spaghetti sauce i had in the pantry, sharp cheddar cheese (wish i had mozerella or some other white cheese too), mushrooms, olives and sliced red onion.

paired with a great cabernet sauvignon! (aka a cheap bottle just for home)

bon apetit!

  1. Yummy! Our friend Blake makes his pizza the same way, I always let my pizza dough rise for 45 minutes but I like that you get the same results just waiting 5 minutes.
