My sister got married this past May, and in April we hosted a shower for her. My love of all things party, and especially a themed, one got super excited about this one. The only thing I would change is I would have had it ON St. Patrick’s Day in March. 🙂

That made me want to really enjoy the planning and executing of this party. Especially because I only have one sister and will only get to do this one time.
(One caveat here – if I have learned anything about Pinterest it is to USE it as inspiration and a starting point, and to then do what fits YOU best. I hope you see that reflected in the differences between my actual party and my virtual “pinned” party.)

I inherited these beautiful green goblets and look for every opportunity to use them. So… why not fill them with our favorite treat – popcorn!
I enlisted help from my mom Wendy, Auntie Judy, and cousin Alicia and boy did they help make the spread look and taste incredible. I think this is my most favorite party tip. Don’t do it alone. Ask for help and even email pins to people so they get the idea of what you want, or create a group and/or secret board that they can get ideas.
Here you see fruit cups in cupcake tins (Alicia), pasta salad (Wendy), and pistachio parfaits (Judy) which were served in champagne flutes.
The round lanterns were purchased on Amazon – Martha Steward brand and the tissue puffs were made by my Auntie Toni and mom Wendy.
These sweet Lucky (shamrock) in Love (heart) sugar cookies were made in honor of Tonie, the bride. They are her absolute favorite dessert.
I couldn’t resist these cupcakes that were pinned here.
Chocolate cupcakes – cut the top off, frost the bottom half, cut out the shamrock from the top and add it back to the frosted base. Easy and a new, fun way to do cupcakes. Sprinkled with powdered sugar!
We had some fun prizes for games that included this beautiful gerber daisy. Burlap makes everything look fancy.
This was the activity table. Write a date on a popsicle stick so Tonie and Eric have a collection of date ideas. This was started at her first bridal shower and we continued it to get more fun ideas. In the back goblet the guests were to see if they were lucky and guess how many marbles were in the goblet. And of course a candy and popcorn ball bar! These popcorn balls were delicious! Stay tuned for the recipe.
My poor sister had such a heck of a time mailing her homemade invitations that she asked we have some out at the shower. One tip, when making your own wedding/reception invitations take into consideration the postage. 😉 She did do a lot of research but with inconsistencies between post offices she found a great deal of problems at each bend in the road when it came to mailing these beauties.
Guests wrote their address on envelopes so Tonie could be sure to get thank you cards out and be sure to add correct addresses to her new married address book.
This was a group gift – and of course fit perfectly with the color theme!
Guests brought and wrote down recipes that went into a recipe book for Tonie and Eric too.
It was fun to be able to pick up St. Patrick’s Day items on clearance to use around the party. Added a lot to the gift table area as well. One pro to having he shower AFTER the holiday had passed.
There was also a prize table here that included a small candle, flowers (fresh that you can plant at home) hand soap and lip glosses. Oh and a coffee card. Again prizes I would like to have and take home with me. 😉
These paper chains were easy to make in shades of green and white and made a great addition to help feature the couple’s engagement video.
My Mom made this awesome bunting and we decorated the mantle with fun flowers, shamrocks, and of course the couple’s last initial!
This shamrock necklace was also a game – catch Tonie saying “Eric” and snatch the “lucky charm.”
I think giving prizes is fun, but often the games are not. I wanted activities that would help guests get to know Tonie and also get them interacting lots. This did the trick.

We had already booked a place for the big day. But then it all got messed up and we scoured the internet for other venue ideas. Lucky to find this place with only a few months to go.
