Creating White Space // Day 02

During the 31 Days of White Space I have some specific goals

I guess they are some physical representations of something much larger. Something that is hard to anticipate.

But here goes. Some physical goals for the month.

1. Less television  – this is when I’m on my own and when we are together as a family. We have justified television as a “free time” activity that is our “fun time” since our budgeting is so much tighter these days. But, I think it’s filling a lot more space then it needs to. I’m going to first focus on it less for me, then hope to trickle that into the family time too.

2. Clear IT out and Give things away – making room for the things that are special and significant and getting rid of the unnecessary and unused. I will be giving IT away in my Buy Nothing Community in hopes of developing some more friendships too.

3. Walking more – I have found this is a time where I can create white space for my mind.

4. Getting up a bit earlier – before my little one does. Not my favorite thought, but doable. I’m not talking hours, just a bit earlier. I need to carve out some time and I think this could be some important white space for me.  I’m not a morning person, but I’m really not a night person either so I need to find the space somewhere. And since Cashel Man is a great sleeper I think getting up a bit before him is totally doable.

5.  Clearing the Calendar – Clear the calendar ahead of time (I did this on Wednesday the 30th for the month of November) and prioritizing the things we choose to do.

6. Get outside – this is a goal for me with my boys. I want to get outside with them. This has a relational aspect plus I know what being outside does for my heart and mind.
Makes me a bit nervous to put goals out there – but I’ll keep you posted and I’m keeping in mind that the goal is to grow and to create more white space then was there before.
