Creating White Space // Day 19 & 20

Yesterday and today I’ve made great strides.
I feel like this whole series has been a lot more mental then I assumed it would be. I think I figured that creating white space had as much to do with physical space as it did with mental/emotional/spiritual space. I am finding that isn’t the case. Maybe only one-eigth of what I have “done” has to do with the physical space.
With that in mind…
I want to share a great reference. I’m listening to it on audio – got it at my local library on a whim. Mostly due to my ongoing fascination with the Amish. But little did I know just how pertinent it was to this series and all I am learning from my Buy Nothing community. Check out Day 10 if you want to know more about that.
The book is called “Money Secrets of the Amish” by Lorilee Cracker and rather then send to a purchasing link on this one, just on principle alone, I’m going to encourage you to head to your local library or it’s webpage to see if they have it.
My favorite concept so far is the U, W, M, W concept.
Use it up
Wear it out
Make do
or Do Without.
There is so much in this book but so far that is the biggest concept that I have really been exploring in our life and the one that is most contrary to how we (our society) live(s).
“Finding Your Abundance in Simplicity, Sharing and Saving”
I’m also a chapter into “No More Perfect Moms” by Jill Savage and I’m struck at the “comparison game” relationship to all we do in terms of spending and expectations on how we live. For me it’s just amazing how things I have been learning, meditating on, and practicing are all popping up all over again as I write about my experiences in these 31 days of creating white space. God works in mysterious and clever ways.
I’m looking forward to the last 11 days in the series and then taking what I have learned into my life further.
Contentedness, Simplicity…. some things I am desiring now more then ever.
Hebrews 13:5
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

    1. I will plan to do at least one more post about the book – but I'm not finished with it yet and want to wait to get the whole idea. It's a really interesting read ( listen in my case). Challenging me for sure.

Thanks for reading and for your comment. Stay tuned.
