The Doodles to Live By devotional and kit, from Illustrated Faith, just went live today and there is a coupon code available through today (4/24/2017 Happy Birthday to me, I love shopping these faith inspired products! I have included affiliate links to these fabulous products below. I hope you’ll take a look and shop!) But first let’s talk about my thoughts on the kit and the incredible topics it covers.
These two items in my Bible are two things that are in the photos that are not included in the kit. They are two of my top recommendations if you are just starting. A great pen like this set of 2 from Illustrated Faith – I also love pens by Staedtler – and an ink pad like this one; I also use “stayzon” ink pads. There is also a great starter kit that includes both of those items and a beloved date stamp!

Okay so now onto my thoughts about Doodles to Live By and where you can snag your kit! A more pertinent name there never was. The doodles in my Bible truly are the messages of my heart and life; and my entries from this devotional are no exception. Designer Elaine Davis did an amazing job not only with content, but also with the creative aspects. Don’t you love this yellow/chartreuse color? It’s so cheery and with Spring being so delayed in the Pacific Northwest I need this!
Elaine did a fabulous job with the devotional. I have read all 14 entries and I cannot way to go back and dive further into each one. She provides her own thoughts and experiences, and pairs those with great prompts and questions. Plus she includes spaces to create right in the traveler’s sized devotional booklet. It really has great balance in this arena.
There are fabulous connections between the themes, Scriptures, and the visual design which I think makes it even easier to be inspired and to create. The applications and challenges are not only practical; but also very applicable at least to my life and I think you will find the same is true for you. Davis touches on important key components of faith. She calls them “14 things that will enrich your soul” and she is not exaggerating. The ancient spiritual disciplines are tried and true and Davis touches on many in her 14 day study – service, rest, worship, and study – just to name a few.
I love that Illustrated Faith studies are 14 days long so you can fill a month easily with reading, reflection, and creating or if you do one a day you can also have time for another study or other Bible reading you do the other 14-16 days a month since the kits come out monthly.
And finally I love that the stamps can be iconic in your Bible as you journal later entries. The sleeping eyes signaling a need for rest, or the house or guitar a time for worship and finding our home in the Lord. Really these stamps are SO versatile even beyond the devotional itself. I can’t wait to create – you’ll be able to see more of those images as I dive in on my Instagram account and stories.
In the meantime I am off to enjoy my birthday with my people and write another entry in my story. Here’s a fun few facts about me on this significant day…
- I am 24 weeks pregnant on 4/24 with our 4th baby! If only I was turning 34. (wink wink)
- I have 3 little boys and a dedicated husband who have celebrated me well today.
- I’m turning 33 today.
- I love to create and share.
- I’m off to work on my birthday present with my boys – a chicken coop!
