The Cherished Quilt: A book review

The Cherished Quilt by Amy Clipston is a story filled with family, Faith, messy relationships, and complicated people.

I’ve read the others in the  Amish Heirloom Novel series and this one did not disappoint. I love that each story can run completely independent of each other and yet there’s some beautiful connections between them. I have been fascinated with Amish history and culture since I was a young girl and so I often use Amish fiction as an escape from my normal reading routine. This novel was no exception in helping me shut off some of life’s other things and just be consumed by a great story.  Truly it only took me a couple of days and yes I was still able to accomplish my normal life.  ( insert smile and wink here –  as that might be up for debate if you ask my husband. )

The story of Emily Fischer and Christopher Hostettler  was enthralling and romantic, heartbreaking and encouraging.  You definitely feel for the characters as they experience all the range of emotions.  I find myself rooting for the relationships,  feeling a part of the family, and feeling invested in their futures.

Clipston does a nice job of creating characters that are likable and also equally challenging to understand.   I love that while the story wraps up in the end they’re also bits of the story that will leave me anticipating her next novel. There are some great discussion questions at the end and overall I found the book a very enjoyable read.

I received this book from the Booklook Bloggers program in exchange for my honest review.
