Ham and Asparagus Macaroni
Ham & Asparagus Macaroni
4 ounces dried medium shell macaroni
12 ounces asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
1 tablespoons butter
8 ounces chopped cooked ham (I got the bag of precooked and prediced for ease!)
1 cup chopped onion
7 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons finely shredded Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon lemon peel (I used a peeler and then diced it finely)
4 ounces dried medium shell macaroni
12 ounces asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
1 tablespoons butter
8 ounces chopped cooked ham (I got the bag of precooked and prediced for ease!)
1 cup chopped onion
7 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons finely shredded Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon lemon peel (I used a peeler and then diced it finely)
1. Cook macaroni according to package directions, adding asparagus the last two minutes of cooking. Drain; set aside.
2. In a very large skillet melt butter over medium heat. Add ham; cook four minutes or until ham begins to brown, stirring occasionally. Add onion and garlic. Cook and stir three minutes more. Add flour; stir to coat. Add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir one minute more. Stir in macaroni and asparagus, Parmesan, and lemon peel; heat through. Makes four servings.
